As part of our chocolate travels around Europe we take you now to meet Venchi. Venchi is located in Robilante, a little village in the Italian Piedmont mountains between Turin and Monaco. The Piedmont region is, as you are probably already aware, world famous for its high quality hazelnuts, abundantly used in the Venchi chocolates. This Italian chocolate maker has a wealth of history behind its name and the craftsmanship and chocolates it produces are deeply rooted in Italian traditions.

Venchi, formerly known as Cuba Venchi, before returning to its original name in 2003 was originally founded in 1878 by Sylvano Venchi. The company merged with another local and traditional Piedmont chocolate maker called Cuba in 2000. Cuba, founded in 1949 by Pietro Cussino, then specialized in regional recipes and was renowned for its delicious “Rum Cuneesi chocolates”, large chocolates filled with a chocolate and rum paste which Venchi continue to create. Today Venchi creates over 180 individual types of chocolates.

This single chocolate cigar is coated in a rich 56% dark chocolate. Shaped and labeled to look like the best hand rolled cigars.  The Original Chocolate Cigar from Cuba Venchi.
