It was the summer of 1980 and I was taking a stroll in the gritty neighborhood of Manhattan - the Lower East Side. A neighborhood where millions of immigrants flocked to in pursuit of the American Dream. On the corner of Hester and Ludlow was a small shop. A shop with no name and no true identity. Somehow, she called to me. Somehow, she moved me to open the door and walk in. Within moments, I had purchased the shop with one firm handshake. After all, this is New York City.
My passion. Traveling the world to experience its culture and wonder. My shop. The Sweet Life. Where I searched the globe to bring a taste of each country. From the 1883 family owned chocolate shop in Voiron France... to the traditional salty liquorice in the Netherlands... to the rosewater candy jewels from the Piedmont region of Italy.
Our Chocolates. This was my dream. To share my love for good quality handcrafted chocolates in this little shop I built. Handmade in small batches with only the best ingredients. You will taste the difference. Simple yet decadent chocolates.
Today, 34 years later, my dream lives on in a neighborhood that is surrounded by inspiration and creativity. Art galleries, coffee houses, restaurants for the cultured and alike.
I invite you to visit our shop... and for a moment, let her remind you that life is sweet. This is my love story.
Very truly yours,
